A good friend and local luthier here recently had a interesting experience that I thought worth sharing. He teaches uke making at a community center and also builds ukes at home. Last month after an evening class he put his gobar deck in the front passenger seat of his old bronco, started the car and disengaged the parking brake, then looked down for something momentarily. While looking down he must have let off on the foot brake because unbeknownst to him the car started rolling forward. Unfortunately, he was parked on the upper level of a two tier parking lot that only had a rickety olf fence between the tiers. Before he realized it he was over the enbankment and upside down in his car on the lower level. The roof was crushed and he figures the only thing that saved him was his gobar deck which prevented the roof from collapsing totally onto him. He was able to walk away from the accident sore but without any major injuries and the go bar deck needed no repairs and is still in use......So as the subject heading says, "Go bar deck, never leave home without it"! ![]() |

I hope he keeps that deck in his possession FOREVER. Think of the gratitude he'd feel every time he uses it. Great story. |

I'll bet no one has ever been saved by a cam clamp. Great story! Long |

There another good reason for using go bar decks instead of vacuum clamping ![]() |

People don't save people, go-bar decks save people! Thanks, Roy. Gotta say, though, that it's a good thing one of those bad boys didn't pop off and go through some part of his anatomy! ![]() |

Great story Roy. Great ending for your friend. Gobars doubling as a roll bar, now that's a stretch. Maybe I should make another portable one for my truck? Luthier Gobar to Go! |

So now we can start calling them roll-bar decks? JK |

Maybe I could use the roof of my truck and just buy the go-bars... Great story. Thank you for sharing. |
